Santa Sleigh Cake
Christmas birthdays are cool. You can get creative and make a birthday cake like this!!!!
Desiccated coconut snow, mini favours bags for Santa's sacks, Brightly coloured, foil wrapped assorted toffees from Sainsburys and chocolate coins.
Use the edge of a cookie/pastry cutter to cut holly then squeeze rounded edges to make them pointed.
Cake is three "steps". Santa is sitting on the second step.

Not just any tube train cake but the Cockfosters tube train!
Happy 3rd birthday to a train obsessed birthday boy!
This couldn't be any tube train but a Cockfosters Tube train.
Not made with a swiss roll cake but a flat cake cut with the biggest round cookie cutter I could find, sliced flat at the bottom so the shapes stand up and stuck together with butter icing. Whole thing covered with butter icing then covered with coloured ready to roll icing from the supermarket.
When will we be able to buy Wilton colour gels or similar in the supermarket here like they have in the States? By far the best thing Kiddie Cake Maker has found to colour ready to roll icing. Tesco, Sainsburys, Asda, Morrisons - take notice!
Tip you could try for actually being able to write with the writing icing you buy in the supermarket.... put it in the microwave to 5 secs then another 5 if really needed. I'm sure this probably goes against any instructions but it worked for me!

Meet Cecil
Cecil the Caterpillar cake. The request was a caterpillar decorated with lots of sweeties. Request met.
No need to make a swiss roll. Make a flat cake and use two different sized cookie cutters to cut the body shape and stick together with butter icing.
Melt and temper chocolate to cover cake. Loads of good You Tube clips showing how to do this.
Used more chocolate than expected but hey for a first attempt the result was pretty good.
Cockfosters underground train for this weekend!

Its Shaun the Sheep
Happy birthday to a Shaun the Sheep crazy 7 year old. Great bowling party today and tears because the cake had to be cut up and couldn't be kept forever. Explanations of mold and talking lots of pictures eventually overcame this.
Shaun the Sheep made with a pyrex bowl and cake pops baking tin plus a little extra cake to make the head from. Kiddy Cake Maker hands still have the tell tale signs of using lots of black food colouring... even though icing was coloured on Friday!
Cake stuck together with butter icing then covered with white ready to roll icing.

The celebrating nothing special cake
Cake making kicks off again now the school summer holidays are over... but not a cake for a child's birthday. A cake for a celebrating nothing special party. A bright cheerful sunflower cake complete with bumble bee and pretty silver ribbon.
Impressively this cake survived the journey from London to the Forest of Dean via deepest, greenest Herefordshire!
Inspiration..... just being happy and cheerful
Barbie princess and a princess Jasmine cake for this weekend. The Kiddie Cake Makers are busy again after a fabulous summer full of rain and adventure!
